31 Dec IFALL has been in Greece
The project InterPriSE – Intercultural Primary School Education (reference number: 2014-2-EL02-KA105-001013) is designed to help young educators who wish to develop their knowledge on the principles of intercultural education and teaching in multicultural environments. Participants learned alternative teaching methods that relate to modern pedagogy, experienced self-assessment techniques and revealed the connection of stereotypes and prejudices to socially vulnerable groups.
Through the activities of the training course they explored the various inadequacies of current education methods and increased their strengths in the competitive labour market, by creating their own innovative solutions.
The ultimate goal achieved by the completion of the program was for participants to be more well-informed about their profession and to feel more creative and determined, to develop strong team spirit, to eliminate any feelings of xenophobia and most importantly to be able to exploit their capacity as European citizens in an attempt to build a more humanistic education.
The project took place in Patras, Greece from November 25th to December 1st, 2014 with the participation of 30 young people from the following countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Denmark and United Kingdom.
The activities of the training course, except those who needed to be outdoors or in the city of Patras, took place in the hotel hall which was rent for the exact purpose. Participants were working on small groups of 5 or 6 people and trainers ensured the gender balance and the cultural diversity of the groups.
The working method mainly used was the project-based problem solving method, where the participants were given an issue-problem, they worked out on the information given or created their own idea and last they presented the results to the rest.
